The UAW is crooked.

Seriously I’m surprised how little press this is getting even here in Detroit. I think this is the tip of the iceberg and more indictments are coming.
Gonna be a interesting week in the plants.

This right here says that they appalled that they got caught and are getting charged, not that they are appalled at the actions of their employees lol

Shocker, a union officer that’s not in it for the people he represents. This is why I hate modern unions. They are far more interested in perpetuating the union so they can continue to draw a salary from it than they are in actually representing their constituents. I have the same problem with politicians.
I think the best way to fix it may actually be the same for both. Individuals elected to represent a group of people may only draw a salary equal to the 75th percentile of their constituents. Also term limits in congress.

you guys can “LOL unions” all you want, but one of the reasons the UAW was so successful was because for a long time Walther Reuther managed to keep out the kind of corruption which other unions (e.g. the Teamsters) were notorious for.
but any time you have a power structure where there’s potential personal benefit to be had from abusing the system, someone will eventually try. if you think the UAW is somehow uniquely awful here, then I hope you’ve never bought anything from a company, nor worked for one, nor belong to a major religion, or gone to school, or send your kids to school, or involve your kids in sports, etc...
‘cos this kind of palm-greasing (and far, far worse) goes on inside all of those organizations.
